The Long Island Quilters’ Society is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the time-honored skill of quilting, as well as promoting the growth and development of quilting through art, education, and service.
During the current COVID-19 pandemic, quilters across Long Island have joined forces to use their skill set for a good cause by sewing cloth face masks for hospitals in need. When the Congregation’s Advancement Office saw a recent ABC News’ article highlighting the group’s good work, they reached out to see if the quilters could donate masks for their nursing staff.
With the help of society member Mary Ellen Orchard, 95 masks were delivered to the Motherhouse just two days after the request was made!
The Sisters are most grateful to Mary Ellen and the Long Island quilters for their talent and support.
