Sister Francis Piscatella, OP turned 107 years old on April 20th, 2020. Not only has Sister Francis lived through both world wars, the Great Depression, the invention of the internet, and the turn of the century, but now she celebrates her birthday during another historic time — the COVID-19 pandemic.
Although the deadly virus kept Sister Francis from being treated by her family to a celebratory dinner of veal meatballs and piccata at her favorite Italian restaurant in Westbury, it didn’t stop her from smiling and waving out a window to relatives and friends gathered Monday outside her East Williston apartment.
