GENERAL DESCRIPTION
A person who is engaged in the care and support of the inner person is known as a Pastoral Care Provider. A Pastoral Care Provider is a trained, experienced, and compassionate person who offers spiritual support to sisters, their families, and staff. He/She is a role model who brings genuine compassion, understanding, and practical ongoing support to the sisters and staff. He/She provides spiritual and emotional support as required and achieves this by offering a safe space for the individuals to talk about their experiences and concerns.
QUALIFICATIONS
A. Education:
1. Minimally, a bachelor’s degree is required. Ideally, a graduate degree in a related field is appropriate.
2. The director has experienced formal training within a management or curriculum setting.
B. Training:
1. Certification by an appropriate clinical pastoral agency and ongoing advanced training in current theology, management, or clinical or pastoral skills
2. Two years of clinical pastoral experience in a healthcare setting
3. Knowledge of and support for the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Facilities
C. Personal Requirements:
1. Demonstrable value placed on the importance of working as a team both within and outside the department.
2. Good health and socialization skills
3. A valid driver’s license.
4. Basic computer skills.
5. Ability to be assertive yet flexible.
6. Ability to exercise the authority of the position while knowing how to delegate.
JOB DUTIES
The director is responsible for:
A. Implementing the sisters’ mission and philosophy.
B. Encouraging spiritual growth.
C. Linking individuals to community support resources and services as required.
D. Promoting self-care and spiritual well-being within Carlin Hall, Rosary Hall, and the larger congregation.
E. Supporting the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being of sisters, staff, and families through times of transition, stress, grief, and loss.
F. Organizing and training persons responsible for regular hospital and nursing home visitation.
G. Annually developing the departmental goals and program objectives in discussion with members of the pastoral care team.
H. Implementing a continuum of pastoral services for sisters and staff.
I. Overseeing the staffing, development, evaluation, and education of members of the pastoral care team.
J. Providing the human and fiscal management of the department.
K. Conducting educational programs regularly for the staff.
L. Evaluating pastoral personnel (including volunteers) and services.
M. Incorporating pastoral care into the ongoing organizational life of the facility.
N. Ensuring that adequate worship services including retreats and days of prayer are available.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS:
A. Ability to build rapport easily and communicate with people from different backgrounds.
B. Provide person-centered pastoral care.
C. Ability to respond to the spiritual needs of the sisters through small groups, spiritual reading, etc.
D. Working understanding of people’s cultural background and faith traditions.
E. Provide counseling or referral to services as required.
F. Understanding to care for pastoral and spiritual concerns as requested.
G. Effective written and verbal communication skills
H. The ability to deal with high-stress situations, e.g., with people with physical and mental health challenges, dealing with end-of-life situations, coping with trauma and violence.
JOB ACCOUNTABILITY:
The director is supervised and managed by the Executive Director of Life Enrichment. The director is evaluated annually and is responsible for submitting reports on departmental activities as required. The reporting relationship between the director of pastoral care and his or her administrator should be consistent with that of the other departmental directors.

Job Title: Business Manager
Responsible to: Chief Financial Officer
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting or CPA.
Investment/Securities experience or SEC Series 65 accreditation.
Training ADP software. Experience: Minimum 5 years ADP software systems. Accounting for investments. Management, budget, and cost control. Accounting software including
Electronic time systems. Proficient in Excel and MS Word.
KNOWLEDGE:
♦ Current with NY Labor laws, Disability, and Compensation.
♦ Spreadsheet design.
♦ Full knowledge of Payroll requirements.
♦ Cost control and budget.
DUTIES:
♦ Account Analysis.
♦ Audit and reconcile various financial statements.
♦ Interact with various fund managers regarding investment transactions.
♦ Supervise the Payroll Department.
♦ Preparation of 941 quarterly tax returns.

POSITION SUMMARY: In addition to general accounting responsibilities, the Business Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Payroll Department. Responsible for the auditing and proper recording of the investments for the Sisters of St. Dominic.
Job Title: Executive Assistant
Reports to: S. Carolann Masone, OP, Congregational Secretary
Position Summary:
Executive Assistant will support the 5 members of the Congregational Leadership Team. The Executive Assistant will manage business-related tasks for the team such as creating reports, preparing for meetings, making travel arrangements, and other organizational tasks. The Executive Assistant would need to have a working knowledge of the full Microsoft Office suite, an ability to organize and prioritize, and prior experience as an executive assistant.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare memos, emails, invoice letters, and other documents.
- Answer phones and route calls to the correct person or take messages.
- Handle basic bookkeeping tasks and petty cash.
- File, retrieve, and organize Congregational records, documents, and reports.
- Research and conduct data to prepare documents for review and presentation by boards of directors, committees, and executives.
- Assist in the preparation of meetings.
- Accurately record minutes from meetings.
- Use of software, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentation software.
- Make travel arrangements for Leadership members.
- Open, sort, and distribute incoming faxes, emails, and other correspondence.
- Provide general administrative support.
- Responsible for maintenance of office equipment, including computers, shredders, copy machines, and fax machines.

Education:
Bachelor's degree and/or professionally prepared.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as an executive assistant or other relevant administrative support experience.
- In-depth understanding of the entire MS Office suite.

Job Title: Human Resources Assistant
Reports to: Human Resources Specialist
Position Summary:
Human Resources Assistant will be responsible for handling clerical tasks in the Human Resources Office, handling incoming phone calls and other communications, as well as managing files, updating paperwork and other documents, and performing other general office clerk duties and errands. This job requires occasional bending, lifting, pushing, and pulling.

Job Title: LICENSED NURSE (R.N.)
Responsible to: Nursing Manager, Director of Carlin Hall, and the Charge Nurse
Salary $35.50 per hour. Daytime part-time and/or per diem.
Qualifications:
Education: Graduation from an approved School of Registered Nursing or of Practical Nursing is required. Current New York State Licensed.
Experience: A minimum of one year of clinical nursing experience preferred.
Knowledge:
▪ Concept of nursing which embraces complete care of patients physically, mentally, socially, and spiritually.
▪ General knowledge of nursing which constitutes the supportive, therapeutic, and restorative principles to be used in the basic care of patients with medical and/or surgical problems.
▪ Interest in learning new methods, procedures, and skills through self-development and opportunities provided through in-service education programs.
▪ Ability to assist with in-service training of paraprofessional personnel.
▪ Skill in performing basic procedures and treatments delegated to practical nurse functions.

Position Summary:

The nurse may assume responsibility for the director and/or indirect nursing care of patients under the supervision of the Director of Carlin Hall and/or Nursing Manager and in accordance with the philosophy, policies, and procedures of the Nursing Service.
Duties and Responsibilities:
▪ Is aware of the total nursing needs of the patients.
▪ Assists in the preparation and supervision of the nursing care plan for each patient.
▪ Evaluates and provides for the physical, emotional, and spiritual comfort and safety of the Sisters.
▪ Observes, records, and reports to the appropriate person; the general physical and mental condition of the Sisters; signs and symptoms which may be indicative of a change.
▪ Prepares and cares for patients receiving specialized treatments.
▪ Performs special nursing techniques in caring for patients.
▪ Applies scientific principles in performing nursing procedures and techniques.
▪ Assists in patient teaching and rehabilitation in accordance with the total plan of care.
▪ Instructs, directs and supervises nursing aide personnel for whom they are responsible.
▪ Makes written report on Nurse’s Notes of any changes in a patient’s general condition; notifies the Charge Nurse and/or the Nursing Director of such changes.
▪ May administer medications and treatments prescribed for the patient in accordance with the physician’s written orders.

Job Title: NURSING ASSISTANT
Supervised by: Charge Nurse
Reports to:

Salary $18.00 per hour. Full-time day or evening.
Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma preferred. Nurse Aide Certificate preferred.
Experience: At least six months of experience preferred in a long-term care facility or hospital conducted on-the-job training program.
Personal:
▪ Evidence of good health and pleasing manner.
▪ Desire and ability to work with aged and infirmed patients.
▪ Ability to work well with people.
Position Summary: Under the direction and supervision of the Charge Nurse, the nursing assistant performs the Sisters’ care activities and related non-professional services necessary in caring for the personal needs and comfort of the Sisters.
Duties and Responsibilities:
▪ Answers signal lights and bells to determine the needs of the Sisters.
▪ Bathes, dresses, and undresses patients; assists in the admission, discharge, and transfer of Sisters.
▪ Prepares patient unit for admission; assists in the admission, discharge, and transfer of Sisters.
▪ Transports Sisters or assists Sisters to walk to treatment, recreational, and meal distribution areas; uses safety equipment as directed.
▪ Assists Sisters with lifting, moving, turning, walking, and rehabilitative exercises as directed.
▪ Serves and collects food trays; feeds Sisters requiring help; provides between-meal nourishment and fresh drinking water; observes and reports eating changes and complaints to the Charge Nurse.
▪ Takes and records Sisters’ weight, temperature, pulse, respiration rate, blood pressure, intakes, and outputs, as directed.
▪ Collects specimens and provides simple tests as directed and records results.
▪ Performs simple treatments as directed; assists the nurse in specialized treatments as directed.
▪ Assists the nurse in the care of the critically ill, dying, and isolated Sisters.
▪ Reports all unusual conditions or reactions of Sisters to the immediate supervisor.
▪ Arranges Sisters’ rooms and cares for bedside stands; changes bed linen; collects and bags soiled linen.
▪ Goes on errands as directed.
▪ May clean, sterilize, store and prepare supplies and equipment; records items as directed.
▪ Assists with the orientation of new ancillary personnel.
▪ Performs daily associated assignments.
▪ Attends and participates in the change of shift report, staff meetings, and in-service education programs.
▪ Assists with postmortem care.
▪ Promotes favorable public relations.
▪ Performs other related, reasonable duties as necessary to meet emergency or other situations as required for the best interests of the retired Sisters and the needs of the facility. For example: accompanying a Sister to the hospital and/or doctor appointment during regularly scheduled hours.
