This July, Molloy University students, alumni and staff, along with several Dominican Associates journeyed to Kermit, West Virginia to visit the Big Laurel Learning Center. The Molloy group – including S. Diane Capuano, OP – directed a camp program for teenage boys for one week. The group enjoyed hiking, swimming, playing games and trips to the local arcade. Although the camp is only four short days and three nights, the memories and connections are felt yearlong.
Many of the attendees have journeyed to the Big Laurel Learning Center for over a decade. During reflection, participants spoke about the sense of community and connectedness in this special place, including two Sisters who have lived and ministered on Big Laurel Mountain for almost 50 years.
